It’s been one and a half years since I started accepting donations to keep the site running, and the support has been overwhelming!

GFF gets too little press coverage, so I interviewed myself, and asked myself a number of intelligent questions and offered some equally brilliant answers.

So, the Global FlyFisher’s video section just passed 10,000 videos. And suitably enough the 10K mark was a Davie McPhail video showing how to tie a muddler.

The number of videos on the Global FlyFisher video page is steadily closing in on 10,000!

You won’t find many web sites, which have been running for 25 years, and I seriously doubt that any current fly fishing sites have a quarter century long history

Yes that's right! Our video channel has passed the five thousand video mark, and this article covers the state of this hugely successful section on the Global FlyFisher.

It's become kind of a tradition for me to do these yearly status posts when we get close to Christmas and New Year. So how was 2013 on GFF?

It has been a while since I did a Merry Christmas post on GFF, so I thought I'd make one this year. A few pictures from this year and a handful from earlier.

The Global FlyFisher is a web site for fly fishers and fly tyers - and to some extend for outdoors people in general. The site has a very long history, dating back to the beginning of the Internet era in 1994.

Share parts of your work with our readers. Maybe you should consider letting us bring an extract, a sample, an interview or an article about your work. We get content, you get free marketing.

GFF has been looking the same for almost a decade, and even though we haven't changed anything radical, there are changes in appearance.

If we look back in our archives of GFF screenshots we can see that the front page has essentially looked the same for almost 10 years.
If you take a swing by the Waybackmachine maintained by archive.org, you can see screen dumps dating back to 1999. GFF has existed longer than that, but under different names and URL's.

Yes, this is another of those non-flyfishing articles! Sorry about that for all you flyfishing fans, but I just like writing about the ins and outs of running the site.

We have passed yet another New Year's evening, and can now write 2011. So how was 2010 for GFF? We celebrated our 16th birthday in 2010. We served 12 million pages to 850,000 people. We published 66 articles. We added more than 500 videos. Still we think we're lagging a bit.

Here at GFF we don't hesitate to celebrate any occasion, which marks a milestone in the the history of this site and its progress. And here's another such milestone: this very article is actually entry number 1000 in our list of entries in the sitemap. A really sharp corner.

If you're a regular on The Global FlyFisher, you may have noticed that the publishing pace on GFF goes up and down. We aim at publishing a new piece every few days, but producing good material is time consuming and requires creativity and good, original ideas. While we have lots of ideas, we lack the time and resources to write all the articles ourselves.

So there will be a GFF Summit this year! At long last Martin Joergensen has found the time to get some facts together and start working on the dates and practicalities. It will be in September and take place on Fyn, Denmark like last year,

Our forum has never been the busiest place on The Global FlyFisher. For some reason our rather large crowd of visitors have never selected us to be their prime place to talk about things.

And we have chosen to let that be as it was... for a long time. But one of our contributors—Chris del Plato—has been nagging me for a while to get something better, and the topic has been on the agenda a few times lately. So under a mild pressure from him, the partners and several others, I started looking into a new forum system.
